Dear Prayer partners,
Mauri Ko Wara? (Hello how are you?) If you are “ok” respond I-marurung. We have slowly started learning the language and as we start we are overwhelmed by the task of learning a new language, but I am reminded of the fact that the Lord is with us and will help us learn. “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” I Thessalonians 5:24. This week we have learned to have patience as we waited … and waited … and waited …… for cyclone Tomas to hit us. It never did. Thank you to all those that prayed. I believe God took it the other direction because of the many prayers that went up to heaven on our behalf. I was reminded as I read Matthew 8 this week, “that even the winds and the sea obey him!” v 27 We serve an all powerful God. One of the ministries we are involved in is our Friday night youth meeting. We have been averaging 40-45 young people every Friday. Please continue to pray for this ministry and they young people as we now the Devil is after everyone of them. Brooke and Addy are a little disappointed that they didn’t get to go through a cyclone, but I am sure once they were in it they would have thought other wise. Addy is getting bigger and bigger ever day it seems. She is such a joy to me, especially when she gives me a big smile after I tell her “I love you.” Please pray for Brooke as she gets ready to have her first ladies meeting this upcoming Monday. (Sunday your time). Thanks again for all you do for us, both spiritually and physically. We are praying for you!!

March 11th, 2010

We have had a great week here in Fiji so far. Last Sunday we have a great turnout for the services along with a man receiving Christ as his personal Savior. Please pray for James as we deal with him about Baptism and his need to spiritually grow. On Tuesday we had a good time in my classes with the Bible College students. In the afternoon we worked on the boy’s dormitory. Please pray for us as we are getting things ready to begin building a church building for Harvest Baptist Church. One of the members of my dad’s church has volunteered his companies workers to do alot of the work. Building in Fiji is still frustrating and time consuming. Please pray for Paul and his family as they have many things going on in their lives and ministry.
It was Brooke’s birthday this week and she likes the Fiji way of celebrating all week instead of just on the day. She thanks all those that sent her birthday wishes. Addy is talking (gooing) more and more. She takes after her mother. :-)
It is now Friday evening here and we are preparing for a cyclone that is predicted to begin hitting us within the next twenty-four hours. This involves boarding up windows, sealing the seams in the roof, and moving anything in the compound that could possibly fly away. Please pray for safety for both our church members and us during the next few days.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. As the Apostle Paul said in Philippians “Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart;” (1:7a) You are all in our hearts and prayers because of the fellowship in the Gospel. May God richly bless you this week.

Joel, Brooke, and Adelynn
