Joel Daku

Joel DakuI had the wonderful opportunity of being raised in a good Christian home. I grew up in a home that loved the Lord and sought to please Him. Since the age of five I lived with my parents on the mission fields of Singapore, Australia, and the Fiji Islands.

My salvation occurred in the nation of Australia at the age of eight. I knelt beside my bed late one night as my mother led me in the sinner’s prayer. That night I received God’s gift of salvation.

I am so very grateful to the Lord for allowing me the opportunity to serve beside my parents on the overseas mission field. The Lord opened my eyes to the world’s need of a Saviour. I surrendered my life to do whatever the Lord wanted at a Baptist youth camp in Fiji when I was sixteen. I was called to preach at that camp.

The Lord led me to attend Crown College of the Bible in August, 2003. After my sophomore year, I was able to go to Fiji for two months. Before I left my prayer was that the Lord would show me His will concerning where He would have me serve Him. The Lord sparked my interest in Kiribati by allowing me to win a father and part of his family to the Lord. They were from Kiribati! Little did I know the Lord was working in Brooke’s heart about Kiribati also. The following summer I was able to take Brooke and two other girls on a mission’s trip to Fiji. The very first Sunday I was able to lead another man from Kiribati to the Lord. The Lord used this to confirm my calling to this country.

I graduated from Crown College in May 2007 and Brooke and I were married May 26th. We both are confident about the Lord’s calling on our life to the nation of Kiribati and excited about going there to serve the Lord and reach this nation for Him.

Brooke Daku

brooke_smI was blessed to be raised in a Christian Home. My parents taught me from God’s Word how that Christ died for my sin. When I was eight years of age, while attending the Bill Rice Ranch, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior.

From an early age I felt the Lord drawing me to foreign missions. At the age of thirteen, while attending Gospel Light Youth Congress, I surrendered my life to serve the Lord on the foreign mission field. When I was sixteen I had the privilege to attend Camp BIMI, a missionary boot camp through Baptist International Missions Inc. At Camp BIMI the Lord confirmed my call to missions.

I felt the Lord leading me to attend Crown College in 2003. The Lord led me to major in Elementary Education. I am grateful to the Lord for the training I received while attending college there. It was there that I met my Husband, Joel.

I worked at Camp BIMI the summer Joel went to work with his family in Fiji. Through a presentation Bro. Meyer gave about the South Pacific my heart was burdened for the Republic of Kiribati. It is an open country and yet there are no missionaries there. My heart was burdened and little did I know the Lord was working in Joel’s heart also. The Lord’s ways are far above our ways.

I am grateful to the Lord for bringing Joel into my life. We feel God is leading us to Kiribati so that those who have not heard will hear of God’s love for them. I am excited to serve beside him on the mission field and am looking forward to what the Lord has for our future.
